This past week or so I’ve seen several writers mention that they recently turned in a manuscript and were looking at a few days or weeks of freedom, much like a kid on the last day of school.
The second you mentioned popping the cork off a bottle of champagne to celebrate completing a manuscript, I immediately went to Stephen King's Misery. So maybe not popping that bottle and waiting on word from your editor isn't such a bad thing. If so, Paul Sheldon would still have two good feet and Annie Wilkes would've had to hunt him down in NYC after reading Misery's fate (wow, I would love to have seen what King would've done with that plot).
I was at a charity event here where Lee Child auctioned off having your name given to a character in his next Reacher novel. I think the winning bid was $12,000. It's a great idea to raise money. You got to choose to be a good guy or a bad guy.
Thank you for being a writer. I'm looking forward to FIEND. You are one of authors my wife and I both enjoy reading. She likes the 'spy stuff' and I like historical horror. So you got us both covered nicely.

hyahaahaha
Love your work, Alma!
Thank you for the opportunity to win!!
👍🏻🤘🏻
Good luck!
Turning in a manuscript really does feel like the last day of school! (Except summer = "maybe I'll actually reorganize my home office now.")
Can't wait for FIEND. I hope the Hudson Valley is on your tour schedule!
That would be wonderful! I love that area
Stanza Books in Beacon NY has become the horror hub of the Hudson Valley. Mark and Andrea are great people...just FYI..if you're making tour dates. :)
Thanks for this!
I love your newsletters, Alma. Can't wait for FIEND!
I also love the opportunity for free books. Thanks!
Looking forward to FIEND. Really like the behind-the-scenes view of the words on the page to the published book process.
Thank you!

If you're Lee Child
Is part of the giveaway the creepy craft, too? Or, are you keeping that, Alma, to make the cabin a little scarier looking? ;-)
It's a good looking prop. But I'll probably give it away
Just don't accidentally curse yourself if you give it away!
Now I'm definitely thinking twice...
Love your books. My sister worked with you at the agency and turned me on to your excellent writing. Sounds like you are always busy.
Your sister can tell you--it's a lot :-) Thanks for the kind words.
I can't wait for Fiend to come out! It sounds so good. And possibly another spy story from you is excellent news.
Thank you! Fingers crossed.
Always enjoy the behind the curtain look at the process!

That's nice to hear
There's taking a break or jumping right back in... You seem to be jumping back in many places at the same time!
Fear of getting used to relaxing, I think...
Fear of having trouble getting back into it...
I’ve loved all your stories and am really looking forward to Fiend. Hope your book tour brings you close to Atlanta.
What store would you recommend if I managed to drop by?
I know A Capella Books in Atlanta does a lot of signings and author talks. That might be an option. Thanks!
Thank you! I'll look into it
You are an exceptional writer!!
I’m looking forward to the next book you write.
Hopefully you will have another saga of Onyx. Joan in AZ
Thanks for the kind words
Thanks for the article. I have always wondered about down time. 😁
